ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I discovered my Layered Acrylic Collage technique by a series of happy accidents. Using acrylic mediums, I build the material with layers of medium, a texture layer, and a thin layer of metal. When I put more layers of acrylic mediums over the metals, colors come up spontaneously. I seal them with acrylic varnish, and the colors never change again. I have very little control over the colors that come up from the metal leaf during the drying process. The material can be folded, rolled and cut, making a variety of artworks possible. Working compositions with a limited palette has been a challenge. The combination of organic textures and metals has a timeless look that I find exciting.
